Muslim Organizations in Austin Call for an End to the Violence and Targeting of Civilians in Addition to Lifting the Siege of Gaza

AUSTIN, TX, Jan.  2, 2009 – The Islamic Center of Greater Austin (ICGA), MAS Freedom (MASF), and Muslim Youth of North America (MYNA), are sponsoring a 'Let Gaza Live' Prayer Service and Rally at the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin.

The event is a continuation of the condemnation of Saturday's mass killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip as Israeli warplanes and helicopters pounded the region killing and wounding hundreds, including women and children.

Supporters will meet in front of the Texas State Capitol at 11th St. and Congress St., Austin, TX, on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at 4:30 PM, and pray for the souls of the 421 men, women, and children killed in the Israeli aggression since Saturday.

MAS Freedom Executive Director, Mahdi Bray, one of the event's principal organizer's stated, "It is not only important that the violence ends, but the siege of Gaza must be lifted as well. This medieval-like siege, which for months has denied the people of Gaza food, medicine, clean drinking water, and basic necessities of life, is killing and wounding countless innocent civilians, including women and children."
