This Eid Al-Fitr, MAS Youth Austin conducted its 2nd Annual Eid Gift Drive, sharing toys, greeting cards, and smiles with the children and families at several Austin area shelters.

MAS Youth raised ~$1000 of donations for this cause, and purchased 150 toys and gift. Our youth and volunteers wrapped each gift in colorful gift wrapping, and attached a greeting card with wishes of a happy Eid on behalf of the Muslim community, then sorted the gifts by age and gender, and finally distributed these gifts to children at the following Austin area shelters:

You can view pictures of this campaign on our website.

MAS-Austin would like to thank the youth, volunteers, and everyone who donated generously and worked hard for this cause. Your help and generous support is enabling us to bridge gaps between Muslims and non-Muslims in our communities.

This is the second year MAS distributes Eid gifts to deserving children in Austin. Last year’s 1st Annual Eid Gift Drive also received very positive media coverage on the front page of the Austin American Statesman (page1, page2).

The project is part of the Outreach Season 2008 national campaign launched by the MAS Service Corps (MSC) across the country, benefiting Americans regardless of their background, faith or ethnicity. MAS is proud to be the leading organization in Austin in engaging our youth in many outreach projects and community service events, including:

In addition, MAS-Austin has conducted tens of seminars and mosque tours to present the correct image of Islam to the American public in mosques, churches, universities, and schools across Austin. Approximately 3000 people in Austin has attended these seminars in the last 2 years. See the pictures online!
